Why did Liberal MP Andrew Hastie turn his back on veterans?

Liberal MP & former SAS soldier Andrew Hastie built his reputation on honour and integrity, but when confronted with shocking claims of consumer fraud inside RSL Clubs, he walked away.

  • For over 45 years RSL Clubs have falsely represented themselves as being the RSL itself, which is stolen valour, to generate tens of billions of dollars through gambling and alcohol sales. Yet they donate very little to veteran’s causes.

  • Justice Matters has correspondence from a lawyer admitting that RSL Clubs in NSW donated less than 0.5% of reported revenue to veteran’s causes last year.

  • That does not give them the right to brand themseves as the RSL itself. It would be the same as a company that donates money to a children's hospital branding itself as the children's hospital - it's a deliberate scam!

  • Astonishingly, in September 2024 NSWRSL President Mick Bainbridge revealed the NSWRSL received nothing. ACA interview with Mick Bainbridge

  • Despite his proud record as an ADF veteran, Hastie's office advised Justice Matters by email that he was unable to assist. It is a stunning silence from a man who is reportedly making a stand for core values.

  • For the record - we did not ask Hastie to assist Justice Matters. We advised him that we were happy for him to handle the matter on his own.
